Two teenage boys have been arrested after an alleged carjacking and pursuit in Melbourne’s north overnight.
Police believe the pair were sitting inside an allegedly stolen Toyota Corolla on Royal Crescent in Hillside about 1.30am when they spotted a 20-year-old man.

The man had just parked his Kia Sorento, when the pair, allegedly armed with machetes, chased and assaulted him, before stealing his car, police said.

The police air wing was deployed and followed the two cars until tyre deflation devices were used, which was successful in stopping the Kia on Keilor Park Drive.

Vision shows the moment the pair abandoned the car at a nearby service station, before running into a nearby cemetery.

Police cordoned off the area and the Air Wing directed members of the dog squad and officers to where the pair were.

The 16-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy has been charged with armed robbery, theft of motor vehicle, being armed with a controlled weapon with criminal intent, possess a controlled weapon, and traffic-related offences.

He has been remanded to appear before a children’s court today.

The 17-year-old St Albans boy was released and is expected to be charged on summons at a later date.

The Corolla was allegedly stolen from an address in Fawkner at 8pm last night.

The 2012 grey Toyota Corolla and its occupants are yet to be located and the investigation remains ongoing.
