The 37-year-old man was discovered with a gunshot wound in the alleyway off Scott Street in Dandenong about 1.15am Monday.

Police say the man was found with a homemade firearm. It’s believed the man accidentally discharged the firearm and shot himself.

He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are calling for any witnesses or people with information to come forward.
