A 30-year-old man will face court today in Queensland after he allegedly grabbed a woman, threw her over a fence, and held her to the ground.

He allegedly approached the 20-year-old woman on Folkestone Street in Stanthorpe in the Southern Downs Region at 1.20am on Sunday.

Police will allege he grabbed her, threw her over a nearby fence and pinned her to the ground.

The man from Stanthorpe then fled on foot and the woman was taken to Stanthorpe Hospital for treatment.

Police said they found and arrested the man on Thursday and charged him with one count each of assaults occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Warrick Magistrates Court today.

Detectives are urging anyone who has had similar experiences to come forward.
