A man has been charged over a deadly three-car crash that killed a teenage girl in regional Victoria earlier this month.

It’s alleged a Toyota Camry, a Toyota Aurion and a Mazda wagon collided at the intersection of New Dookie Road and Boundary Road at Pine Lodge, near Shepparton, at about 6.20pm on April 19.

The Camry driver, a 30-year-old Kialla man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

One of his passengers, a 16-year-old Lemnos girl, also sustained serious injuries and later died in hospital.

His second passenger, a 32-year-old Lemnos man, also sustained serious injuries while the third passenger, an 18-year-old Tarneit woman, was not injured.

The other drivers and a male passenger involved in the collision sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The 30-year-old driver of the Camry has now been charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing serious injury.

He has been bailed to appear in court on May 6.
