Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot outside a home in Sydney’s south-west.

The body of a man was found on Stella Street in Fairfield Heights at 8.30 am today after reports of a shooting.

The man was found unresponsive on the footpath, Police said.

NSW Ambulance treated the man for gunshot wounds, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Police said they believe the shooting was targeted.

“The male is known to us, his history and other associations will form part of the investigation going forward,” Detective Superintendent Michael Mclean said.

Multiple shots were fired, Mclean also alleged. 

A crime scene has been established and the investigation is ongoing.
