• The victim was given first aid in Central Oxford Mosque after last night’s attack

A man in his 40s has been stabbed outside a mosque in Oxford, as police launched an attempted murder probe while ruling out a hate crime.

Thames Valley Police said two men were in an alleyway between Cosin Close and Manzil Way between 6.30pm and 7pm yesterday, before one of them carried out the knife attack in Manzil Way.

The victim received first aid inside the Central Oxford Mosque before being taken to ambulance by hospital, where he was said to be in a stable condition.

Police believe the two men knew each other and are not treating the attack as a hate crime.

They are now appealing for witnesses, especially anyone with dash cam, CCTV or mobile phone images.
