Model, 25, faces jail for attacking a police officer when her dog mauled two people – after spate of animal attacks across UK

A model is facing prison after she was found guilty of attacking a police officer when her dog mauled two people.

Holly Snelgar, 25, tried to fight the officer in Manchester after her English Bull Terrier injured two people at a home.

This comes after a spate of dog attacks in the UK in recent months, including two women who were ‘savaged’ by two Staffordshire terriers outside a home in Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Snelgar attended Manchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was convicted of assaulting an emergency worker, according to a report.

She was also found guilty of two charges of owning a dangerously out of control dog.

Just this year, two people have been killed by dogs including four-year-old girl Alice Stones who was attacked by the family pet – that they had only owned for a few weeks -in her garden in Milton Keynes on January 31.

The animal was put down by armed police after officers were called to a house in Broadlands, Netherfield by the ambulance service. Alice died at the scene.

And this week a man was left facing prison after he admitted owning two dogs which savaged a pensioner to death in her own home.

Great-grandmother Lucille Downer, 85, died after two crazed American bulldogs owned by drug dealer Darren Pritchard, 44, burst into her garden in the horror attack on Boundary Avenue in Rowley Regis, the West Midlands in April 2021.

The great-grandmother was mauled to death by the out-of-control hounds which clung to her neck ‘like they would a toy’.
