Netflix viewers left shocked over plot twist in violent British thriller Bull: ‘Nobody will see the ending coming’

Netflix viewers have been left divided over the ‘shocking’ ending of a newly-added British crime film.

Titled Bull, the revenge thriller tells the story of a gangster enforcer who manages to survive an attempt on his life. 

After spending 10 years away, the title character, played by Neil Maskell (Hijack, Kill List, Utopia), returns to get revenge on his former gang that double-crossed him and to track down his now estranged son.

Written and directed by Paul Andrew Williams (The Cottage, London to Brighton), the film, which was released during the pandemic in 2021, has only just been added to the streaming giant. 

The flick has already charged its way to the number one spot on Netflix’s most-watched.

Upon its initial release, Bull received rave reviews from critics – earning a 93 per cent Rotten Tomatoes score.

In fact, the film’s force of nature Maskell, its hard-hitting violence and its surprising screenplay have likened the movie to some other modern British crime classics such as Dead Man’s Shoes and Kill List.

Since its release on Netflix, plenty of fans have finally picked up on the film after missing it the first time round. 

But taking to social media, it was clear to see that viewers left divided over the film’s plot twist ending. 

‘Watched Bull on Netflix and yeah, it’s incredible,’ wrote one fan. ‘What an ending.’

Another commented: ‘Anyone who likes revenge films…Bull, on Netflix is rather good. 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes…Reminded of the great Dead Man’s Shoes.’

‘Don’t know how a brutal revenge flick starring Neil Maskell got past me two years ago, but fortunately Bull is #1 on Netflix now,’ put a third.

While someone else added: ‘Bull is excellent! It’s like Dead Man’s Shoes reborn as nightmare and it doesn’t let up from start to finish. Another superb turn from Neil Maskell too!

‘It’s on Netflix now. Highly recommended!’ 

‘Watched Bull on netflix, not sure how something can be so bad but so good at the same time’, another wrote.

Another fan added: ‘Bull on Netflix is a gory, well acted revenge movie with not one character who didn’t deserve a gruesome fate. 

‘But very little point and a twist at the end that makes it all seem rather silly.’ 

Another said: ‘Just watched Bull on Netflix. It’s mad. Nobody will see the ending coming.’

A synopsis for the film reads: ‘Ten years after he was last seen, a vicious mob enforcer returns home to find his son and methodically track down the gang that double-crossed him.

‘His quest for revenge soon leads to a savage showdown between his wife and her mob boss father.’
