A NSW Police officer accused of murdering a Sydney couple is in protective custody today, following two murder charges on Friday.

Beau Lamarre-Condon spent the night in Silverwater Correctional Complex in Sydney’s West, after detectives accused the senior constable of murdering flight attendant Luke Davies and former Ten presenter Jesse Baird.

Lamarre-Condon is an ex-partner of Baird’s, police said.

CCTV footage was released of the senior constable walking down the street at Gray’s Point barefoot, holding his shoes in his hands. (Nine)

The AFL, which Baird had a connection to as an umpire, released a statement overnight expressing their condolences to his coworkers and friends.

“We understand it is a very upsetting and confronting time for all involved especially for Jesse and Luke’s families and those at the AFL who had a relationship with Jesse through his umpiring,” the organisation said.

“Jesse was a popular and respected member of our AFL umpiring family.

“We will continue to offer support to Jesse’s family and counselling to any of our team members in umpiring and the wider AFL football department regarding the news today.

“The entire AFL family’s thoughts are with both Jesse and Luke’s families, as well as our umpiring and broader team during this very difficult time.”

Baird began as an umpire in 2011 in the Northern Football and Netball League.

He moved to Queensland in 2017, making his debut on the AFL umpiring list in 2020.

Lamarre-Condon handed himself in at Bondi Police Station at about 10.30am on Friday.

Police allege he killed Davis and Baird sometime on Monday morning, before hiring a van to dispose of the bodies that evening.

On Tuesday, one of the men’s social media pages was active, however, no one had seen them in person.

On Wednesday, a worker at Club Cronulla, in Sydney’s south, found bloodied items belonging to both men in a skip-bin at about 11 am.

The items included an $8000 watch, clothes, credit cards and wallet.

Police said that a “significant” amount of blood had been found at the home and that they held “grave concerns” for both Davis and Baird.

They later alleged on Friday that Lamarre-Condon had killed both men in the home.

Gun casings at the scene matched Lamarre-Condon’s police-issued Glock, however, a cause of death is yet to be established.

Detective Superintendent Jodi Radmore said on Thursday that witnesses overheard shouting “coming from the vicinity” of the home on Monday.

Officers carried out a search warrant of a home on Waite Avenue, in Balmain, on Thursday as allegations of a third person involved in the “suspicious disappearance” came to light.

Police are still trying to establish a timeline.

They allege Lamarre-Condon drove to a property in the Newcastle area at some point on Thursday, before driving to Gray’s Point, where the van he allegedly used to dispose of the bodies was found on Friday.

CCTV footage was released of the senior constable walking down the street at Gray’s Point barefoot, holding his shoes in his hands.

He was charged with murder on Friday and faced court on both charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
