A man has been killed in Dublin while a separate gun attack left a close associate of a gang boss known as ‘Mr Flashy’ injured after he was shot in the buttocks.

The 34-year-old man, who has not been named, was shot dead outside a house in the Ronanstown area of the city at around 10pm last night.

A gunman approached the victim, who was sitting in a car outside a house in Harelawn Park, and shot him several times before escaping, police said.

The fatal incident was the second shooting in the Ireland’s capital last night, with a 21-year-old man, who is linked to gang boss ‘Mr Flashy, seriously injured in a shooting in Finglas, north Dublin.

In Ronanstown, there were emotional scenes as distressed relatives gathered at the police cordon and the victim’s body was removed by private ambulance on Tuesday morning.

A major forensic investigation by members of the Garda Technical Bureau is continuing at the scene. Several vehicles were covered by forensic tents to facilitate the Garda examination.

A witness of the fatal shooting said they heard around eight gunshots last night.

‘I thought they were bangers but then I realised the way they went. It was three shots, a stop, then three again and then two. What I heard was eight shots,’ the witness told Dublin Live.

The 34-year-old victim was known to the gardai for his involvement in serious and organised crime, local media reported. He also had previous convictions for drug offenses and had served time in prison.

The man had been in a bitter dispute with a drug gang and believed his life was under such a severe threat that he told the Gardaí last month he planned to leave the country, reports the Irish Independent.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was in the vicinity at the time of the shooting to come forward.

They also urged motorists who might have captured dashcam footage in the area to make it available.

An hour before the fatal shooting, a close associate of the mob boss ‘Mr Flashy’ was taken to hospital after being shot in Finglas, in the north of the city, at around 9pm.

Gardai believe the 21-year-old was in a taxi with ‘Mr Flashy’ when they were targeted by gunmen, local media report. The victim was shot in the hand and buttocks as he tried to run away along Cardiffsbridge Road.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, gardai said.

Both the 21-year-old victim and Mr Flashy are on bail facing charges related to gang violence in the area and had only signed on at the local garda station as part of their bail conditions just minutes before they were attacked.

A burned out car was later found nearby in the Berryfield area of Finglas by the police.

Gardai believe that the shooting is linked to feuding gangs in the area including Mr Flashy’s gang.

Mr Flashy runs his drugs and crime empire – known as the ‘Gucci Gang’ – in the area of Finglas and was once linked to the cartel run by Daniel Kinahan.

Kinahan later turned on Mr Flashy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and ordered a gunman to assassinate him last year – but the plot was foiled by the gardai.

Tensions in Finglas have been mounting this year following the murder of Mr Flashy’s gang rival James ‘Whela’ Whelan, 29, in April, reports The Irish Independent.

Mr Flashy was targeted for the second time earlier this year when shots were fired at a taxi he was sitting in with his brother in Finglas. No one was injured and two men were arrested.
