Police are searching for a motorist after a teenage boy was struck by a car while riding his bike in Sydney’s Inner West.

The 13-year-old boy was hit by a car at the intersection of Reuss Street and Excelsior Street in Leichhardt, at 8.30 pm on Friday.

Police allege the car did not stop.

The 13-year-old sustained serious injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Police want to speak to the driver of the car, which has been described as a white Audi hatchback.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage, is urged to contact the authorities.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances around the crash.
