She’s starring in programme of the moment The Gold and it would appear British actress Stefanie Martini has struck gold in the relationship stakes, too.

The actress, 32, plays Marnie Palmer, wife of real life criminal John Palmer, in the BBC dramatisation of the £26million Brink’s-Mat robbery in 1983.

Away from the small screen, the Bristol-born star has been in a relationship with model and photographer El Wood since 2021.

Stefanie and El attended a pre-Bafta film-makers dinner at Alfred Dunhill’s Bourdon House in Mayfair on Wednesday, which was once home to the Duke of Westminster.

The happy couple looked glamorous for the event, with Stefanie sporting a striking gold wrap top that showcased her toned abs and a midi skirt.

Meanwhile, El opted for a plunging black gown with an intricate neckline.

Stefanie came out as bisexual in June 2021 and has been with El since the end of the same year.

She publicly revealed their relationship on her Instagram on January 1, 2022, sharing a series of sweet snaps of the couple.

The star wrote at the time: ‘Happy New Year!! I’m normally pretty private but- it’s really nice to be in the place where I can love who I want to love.

‘Signing off socials for Jan, got covid, but it’s all ok because I made it to @heidimartinismith’s wedding and that’s all I really care about. Be safe. Stay sexy.’

She also posted a photo dump of her 2022 New Year’s celebrations, referring to El as her ‘wife’ and giving her followers a glimpse of their puppy together.

It comes after Stefanie revealed she did not speak to real-life Marnie Simpson before playing her in The Gold.

She told the Metro: ‘I didn’t speak to her no. I feel like it would have been lovely to, but I also respect that someone is making a TV show about her life and that must be quite intense and I don’t want to force myself onto someone in that way.

‘I think there was so much information in the memoir that it was fine to leave Marnie alone.’

Stefanie also told the publication that she did extensive research into the robbery and did not know anything about it before she started.

The star admitted she was ‘mind-blown’ by the scale of it and added that she was daunted to take on a character linked to the criminal underworld.

However she revealed that she really liked the character and understood where she was coming from.

After reading her memoir, Stefanie discovered she had a wild life but at the heart of it was her love for John and what was at stake.

The new show garnered mixed reviews from viewers as some criticised producers for changing the criminals involved in the Brink’s-Matt robbery into ‘class warriors.’

The first episode of the crime drama followed the aftermath of the biggest armed heist in British history – the Brink’s-Mat gold bullion robbery in November 1983.

Jack Lowden plays Kenneth Noye, the ambitious crook who arranged for most of the £26million in gold bars to be melted down and sold.

However far from presenting the character as a dangerous, brutal criminal, many of those watching felt producers of the series had been too sympathetic towards Noye.

One person wrote: ‘I don’t know what was more irritating: the more wobbling camera work, the dialogue or attempts to show Kenneth Noye as some sort of class warrior

Another added: ‘Not sure making Kenneth Noye some kind of philosopher-thief Robin Hood, is really as wise a choice as the producers think it is.’

A third commented: ‘Had some good acting but the handheld camera technique made me feel sea sick. I thought that way of directing and filming was a bit dated.’

A fourth penned: ‘I know there’s creative license in the backstory of the #Brinksmat robbery in #TheGold  but trying to make out headcase Kenneth Noye is some sort of class warrior (who listens to New Order) really is weak.’
