In March 1990, two men in police uniforms walked into a museum in Boston, and walked out with more than half a billion dollars’ worth of art.

And to this day, the mystery of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist remains unsolved, and some of the most valuable paintings in the world are still missing.

This painting was valued in absentia at US$250 million (A$333 million), making it more valuable than all but three paintings ever sold.
