Police have arrested three men across Sydney and seized nearly 100 kilograms of MDMA as part of an investigation into an alleged drug ring linked to bikie gangs.
Officers arrested a 40-year old man yesterday around 11am at a house near Penrith, where they allegedly found 30kg of MDMA, just under $1 million in cash and a mobile phone.
Two other arrests were made, with police estimating the street value of the confiscated drugs to be over $24 million.
The 40-year-old man residing at Cranebrook in the city’s west was one of a trio believed by police to have ‘significant’ links to outlaw motorcycle groups.
He was taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with commercial supplying and manufacturing prohibited drugs, as well as knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group.
While executing the search warrant at the address in Cranebrook, police located what they alleged to be a clandestine drug lab.
The man was refused bail to appear in Penrith Local Court today.
Police also arrested a man in Chatswood and a man in Mt Druitt after several executing search warrants around Sydney.
A 53-year-old man was taken to Chatswood Police Station and charged with two counts of supplying prohibited drugs and resisting police officers.
He was refused bail to appear before Hornsby Local Court today.
At Shalvey, near Mount Druitt, a 32-year-old was arrested and charged with drug supply, participating in a criminal group, and failing to provide access to digital evidence when directed.
He was refused bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court today.
Across the search warrants, police found an additional 66kg of MDMA.
They also found 12.5kg of iodine, and approximately 100 litres of hypophosphorous acid.
