Ms Dawson was in the backyard at the time the masked bandits entered through the front door of her home in north-eastern Queensland.

When she spotted the teens in her kitchen she says they were ‘spooked’ and ran out of the house.

The boys got in her car as she chased them, with vision showing Ms Dawson attempting to wrench the car door open as they attempted to reverse out of her driveway.

Ms Dawson’s screams awoke her partner David Searle who starch naked steamed out into the front yard and jumped in front of the car.

CCTV footage then shows the thieves drive off, running over Ms Dawson’s body.

Ms Dawson suffered internal bruising and grazes across her legs and arms and is recovering in hospital.

Mr Searle told 7News the youth crime in the area had reached a crisis point and the teens have a total disrespect for life.

Two 16-year-old boys have since been accused of being the pair who stole Ms Dawson’s car.

Operation Uniform Cygnus was a year-long operation that began at the start of 2022 which targeted repeat offenders.

The police operation aimed to reduce the growing rates of property crime, including burglary and car theft.

A total of 1,322 offenders were arrested and charged as part of Operation Uniform Cygnus, over more than 4,000 offences, with juvenile offenders committing three-quarters of those offences.

Detective Acting Inspector Chris Hicks said the offenders were opportunistic and didn’t discriminate.

‘These offenders are opportunistic, and they’ll try every door in the street to get into a house,’ he said.

‘We can get them identified, investigated, arrested and put before the court, that’s our focus.’
