Two people have been charged for allegedly graffitiing swastikas and other offensive symbols on facilities at Macquarie University in Sydney.

Police received reports five people allegedly walked onto the university grounds and graffitied 24 locations across the campus on February 25. 

Officers then received word of a second incident on May 21, when a man and a woman allegedly approached and intimidated a 20-year-old at the bus stop on Herring Road.

“The man allegedly filmed the incident and uploaded the video to social media,” police said.

As part of investigations into the reports, counter-terrorism and special tactics police stormed a home in Marsfield about 6am yesterday.

There, officers arrested a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman after finding and confiscating several items related to extreme right-wing ideology.

They were both charged with destroy/damage property in company, face blackened/disguised with intention to commit indictable offence, possess graffiti implement with intent to contravene section 4, and enter prescribed premises of any person without lawful excuse.

The man was also charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm and enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

The pair were granted conditional bail. The woman will face court on July 24 while the man will appear at court on August 13.

Investigations are ongoing.
