A raging who woman attacked two strangers for not having the manners to say ‘thank you’ after she stepped off a pavement to let them walk past her has been spared jail.

Kaylie Nightingale, 26, flew into a rage after stepping into the roadway let Danya Marsden and Alesha Pearce pass her on a path in a south Wales town.

A court heard Nightingale told the two friends: ‘Learn some manners’ after the pair walked on by.

She then shouted: ‘I am going to f****** knock you out’ before battering the pair in a busy town centre in the pavement rage attack.

Prosecutor Paul Hewett said the victims were left with broken bones, scratch marks and bruises in the historical town of Blaenavon, Gwent.

Cardiff Crown Court heard the brawl erupted in August 2020 when Nightingale and a man had stepped off the pavement.

Mr Hewett said Nightingale smashed her fist into the left side of Miss Marsden’s face – and then grabbed Miss Pearce by the hair.

In a victim personal statement, Miss Marsden said: ‘I’ve tried to forget about it but suddenly I start crying. I’ve lost confidence and won’t go out with my daughter alone.

‘The day afterwards I had to attend a friend’s mother’s funeral and I was ashamed and embarrassed of my injuries. I was in so much pain.

‘I spent time in my bedroom hiding my injuries. I had to have a month off work because of my injuries.’

Nightingale, of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Defending David Leathley said she had an ‘ill favoured life’ after finding her partner dead in bed next to her when she was just 18.

Judge Recorder Mark Cotter KC sentenced Nightingale to nine months imprisoned suspended for 18 months.

She was also ordered to carry out a 15 day rehabilitation activity requirement.
