Fraustro and Aguilar assert that Cardi B’s song “Enough (Miami)” incorporates portions of their 2021 track “Greasy Frybread” without proper authorization or consent.
The plaintiffs claim that their original composition was previously utilized in a promotional campaign for the FX series “Reservation Dogs” before Cardi B unveiled her release of “Enough (Miami).” This, they argue, constitutes a violation of their intellectual property rights.
In addition to Cardi B herself, the lawsuit names several co-defendants, including Atlantic Records, Warner Music Group, and the song’s producers, OG Parker and DJ SwanQo. The plaintiffs are seeking substantial financial compensation amounting to $50 million in damages. They cite substantial financial losses, irreparable harm to their professional reputation and marketability within the music industry as grounds for this substantial claim.
“Enough (Miami)” achieved remarkable commercial success for Cardi B, peaking at No. 9 on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 chart and maintaining a presence on the charts for an impressive 14-week duration. This aggressive rap track marked Cardi B’s second single release in 2024, following her earlier hit “Like What (Freestyle),” which cleverly sampled Missy Elliott’s iconic 1999 song “She’s a B**ch.”
The release of “Enough (Miami)” was widely anticipated as part of a broader rollout campaign leading up to the highly anticipated announcement of Cardi B’s long-awaited sophomore album, the follow-up to her groundbreaking 2018 debut, “Invasion of Privacy.”
Cardi B has yet to publicly address or comment on the allegations raised in this lawsuit.
