Festive partygoers were pictured across Britain’s cities last night braving the chilly temperatures in order to enjoy a Boxing Day out.

Revellers were decked out in their festive gear and fancy dress as they drank and partied during a cold winter night.

Temperatures dropped to around 3C to 4C in most areas last night, though most partygoers were undeterred  by the weather.

Rain and hail battered Wigan during the evening, but it was unable to spoil its 44th annual Boxing Day fancy dress party.

Revellers were able to make it out to town last night despite the ongoing rail strikes – which ended as of 6am this morning.

Anyone looking to use rail services, to potentially go partying for New Years’ Eve, has been told to avoid travel for two weeks as the industry buckles under strike mayhem.

People travelling by train have been urged to double check their route, though Network Rail said 70 per cent of services will be running today – in the coming days this should rise to 90 per cent.

Around 40,000 workers from Network Rail and 14 train operating companies will strike again between January 3 and 7.
