Bumbling Beverly Hills burglar, 17, staggers into mansion before stumbling around inside while trashing it, causing $20,000 of damage

A 17-year-old boy was recorded on surveillance footage stumbling into a Beverley Hills home before going on a destructive rampage causing around $20,000 of damage.
The seemingly random incident happened just before 5am on New Year’s Day and saw the unidentified teenager, who was wearing a disheveled suit, stumble around the house kicking boxes.
The home in The Flats neighborhood appeared to have been undergoing refurbishment and was unoccupied when he broke in and set off an alarm.
Beverley Hills Police Department said they believe the incident was random and that they made contact with the boy’s parents and will be charging him with vandalism. It is unknown whether he was under the influence of any substances.
Real estate website Zillow has 11 houses listed for sale in The Flats, with values ranging between $8million and $35million.

Footage of the front door shows the teenager show up at around 4.25am and again a few minutes later at 4.29am.
At first, he manically kicks the door and pounds at it with his fists before taking a few steps back and unsuccessfully charging at it.
Another camera captures him turn his attention to the side of the house where he manages to climb over a rail giving him access to an alley along its side.
Eventually he finds a way in but sets off an alarm in the process.

Struggling to maintain his balance he clumsily walks across the room and kicks carboard boxes until he collapses and lies down on the floor.
The surveillance footage was provided to local news network KTLA by somebody who said he destroyed a stone staircase landing and broke a handrail.
Neighbors told KTLA that the incident was unexpected for the area. ‘It’s definitely absurd,’ Mara Weinstein said after seeing the footage.
‘I just never would have expected that to happen in my neighborhood, let alone anyone breaking into the houses under construction just to kick around a few boxes.’
Another local was less surprised and associated it with generally high levels of crime.
‘It’s out of control everywhere, not just in houses, in businesses. The governments are not doing anything about it to help anybody. It’s become a big joke and it’s going to get worse and worse,’ said Tom Trikilis.
