Surveillance video shows the moment an out-of-control car ran a red light, collided with another vehicle, and jumped up onto the curb in Brooklyn, leaving two dead and five injured.

The collision occurred shortly before 1pm on Monday at the intersection of 18th Avenue and 64th Street in the Bensonhurst neighborhood, officials said.

Surveillance video of the crash appears to show a white car driving erratically at high speed, before running a red light and T-boning a dark SUV in the intersection.

The white car then careens up onto the sidewalk as the SUV spins out into the roadway, with both vehicles badly mangled.

An NYPD source told DailyMail.com that the driver of the white vehicle was taken in for questioning. As of Monday night, the driver had yet to be arrested or charged.

The victims killed were the driver of the black SUV and a pedestrian struck in the collision, officials said.

They were transported in critical condition to Maimonides Medical Center, but neither survived.

Not further details were immediately available on the age and gender of the victims who were killed in the crash.

Of the five injured victims, three were transported to Maimonides, one in critical condition, officials said.

The other two injured victims were transported to NYU Langone.

‘This was a completely avoidable tragedy,’ said New York City Councilmember Justin Brannan in a Facebook post, vowing that an arrest in the fatal crash was ‘pending.’

‘Anyone who knows this area well knows how crowded it can be with people in the middle of the day,’ said Brannan, whose district includes Bensonhurst and nearby Bay Ridge.

‘A driver speeding and blowing red lights in a congested area without regard for anyone or anything must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,’ he added. ‘Praying for all involved.’

The incident on Monday comes just weeks after the driver of a U-Haul truck was charged with murder in a separate deadly driving rampage in a nearby Brooklyn neighborhood.

Police say that Weng Sor, 62, was ‘off his medication’ when he struck eight people on February 13 in Bay Ridge, killing one of them, and claimed he was targeting ‘enemies’.

The rented U-Haul plowed into bicyclists, moped riders and at least one pedestrian, before police eventually pinned the truck against a building after a miles-long chase.

The truck also rammed a police car as it careened along its circuitous route, and the officer inside was among the injured.

Sor was ordered remanded without bail, and is currently being held at the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward. He is next due to appear in Brooklyn court on April 20.
