Motorists and residents urged to avoid area as police respond to a ‘high-risk’ incident in a suburban street

Police have swarmed to an Adelaide suburb after reports of a ‘high-risk incident’. 

Members of the public have been urged to avoid Hill Street, Victor Road, Elm Road and surrounding streets at Campbelltown in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs.

A heavy police presence arrived in more than six cars is now along with paramedics and firefighters who are on stand-by. 

Special Task and Rescue (STAR) officers are also on the scene, who are travelling in an armoured vehicle with the aid of Polair in the sky. 

It is believed that police are attempting to surround a single house where a person is inside with a firearm, according to the Advertiser.

The street were blocked off just before 2pm.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and residents have been told to stay indoors.
