Two bungling crooks gave up stealing the money after they failed to smash open an ATM at a gas station.
The unidentified crooks can be seen on surveillance footage breaking into a Washington gas station around 4.30am on January 17.
The men, dressed in hoodies and hats, can be seen pulling up to the gas station in an old Jeep Cherokee where they pulled out a yellow tow strap and attached it to the back of the vehicle. Next, the man in the orange hoodie attaches the other side to the front doors of the gas station while the driver pulls away and busts open the door.
He then backs up as the man in the orange jacket runs inside and shimmies out the heavy ATM machine just inside the doors.
He manages to get the machine upright – albeit upside down – while his partner in crime continuously pulls forward and then reverses.
As the other man is struggling to open the ATM, the driver takes matters into his own hands and backs up over the machine.
The men eventually abandon the machine when they were unable to extract the money.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for the men are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
