Three dogs killed in sickening spate of baiting incidents at a popular park in one of Australia’s most exclusive suburbs: ‘He was poisoned’

Pet-owners in an exclusive Sydney suburb have been warned to keep an eye on their pups after deranged ‘psychos’ left poisonous baits littered around a popular dog park.
At least three dogs have died after ingested the baits in recent days at Mark’s Park, between Bondi and Tamarama in Sydney’s east, with the spate of incidents sparking council to put up signs warning dog owners.
Waverley Council are now investigating the sickening act of animal cruelty and have called on the public to come forward with information.

One of the deceased dog’s owners posted to a Facebook group, saying: ‘We just lost our little puppy on Sunday’.
‘He was poisoned, and we have no idea what the cause was,’ they continued, later stating that they walked their dog through Mark’s Park.
An eastern suburbs resident raised the alarm on their Instagram after finding out their friend’s dog died shortly after ingesting something at the park.
‘A friend’s dog visited the park, ate something and suddenly passed away several hours later,’ the social media post read.
‘He was a young and healthy dog.’
Another user then claimed that a total of three dogs had died after being poisoned at the dog park.
‘Do not walk near Mark’s Park’ the second user wrote.
Waverley Council responded to the claims, saying that they have started on an investigation.
‘Dog-baiting is not a common problem in Waverley but is devastating when it does occur,’ a statement from the council reads.
‘At this point, we have not been able to obtain information about the type of suspected baiting that has been reported, but our inquiries are continuing.
‘We ask that owners remain vigilant when exercising their dogs and monitor their dogs for any signs of illness.’

A sign was erected at the park sometime on Wednesday, after posts circulated throughout eastern suburbs Facebook groups to raise the alarm on the issues.
‘Shocking, will not take my dog to Marks park anymore I’ve heard so many stories there,’ one user wrote.
‘I’ve been there twice this week with my poodle and just want to make sure it’s safe. I try to ensure he doesn’t eat anything while out,’ another said.
‘It might not seem common if it’s not reported,’ one Facebook user commented under the Waverley Council’s warning.
‘In the over five years that I have been walking dogs I have heard of it happening at Rose Bay, Centennial Park, Marks Park and the Coastal Walk at least once a year, seems to always be within summer.’
