Eight people were wounded by gunshots at a late-night party near James Madison University (JMU) in Virginia early Sunday, as police continue to search for one or more suspects.

The shooting took place at around 2.20 a.m. on Devon Lane in Harrisonburg, where an unidentified individual opened fire on a group of people at an ‘outside gathering’, the city announced on Facebook.
‘The incident was isolated to the gathering taking place on Devon Lane and HPD does not believe there is any threat to the greater community at this time,’ added Harrisonburg Police Department.

Five of the victims were rushed to Sentara RMH, a little more than two miles south of the shooting location.
Three additional individuals were transferred to the University of Virginia’s Health – University Hospital, located an hour away.
Cops are investigating whether there was more than one individual involved in the shooting, as several rounds were fired.
DailyMail.com has contacted Harrisonburg Police Department for comment. Michael Parks, a spokesperson for the city, told WTOP that no students were injured in the shooting.
The Harrisonburg Police Department on Facebook communicated that ‘no arrests’ have been made and that all eight victims range from ages 18 to 27
No arrests had been made as of Sunday morning and police have yet to identify any suspects.
JMU students, staff, and local residents mostly live in the part of town where the incident took place, which is also a popular location for late-night life for young adults.
