Ex-Deputy CIA Director who was one of 51 intelligence chiefs calling Hunter’s laptop disinformation is DEPOSED by Republicans in investigation into bid to ‘discredit’ salacious reports about the president’s son

  • Weaponization panel Chair Jim Jordan is deposing a former deputy CIA director on Tuesday in connection to the investigation into Hunter Biden
  • Ex-Deputy CIA Director Michael Morell signed a October 2020 letter warning e-mails on Hunter laptop had ‘classic earmarks of a Russian information operation’
  • House Republicans feel the letter was a ‘concerted effort’ to discredit damning information found on Hunter’s laptop

The House subcommittee investigating ‘weaponization’ of the federal government is seeking testimony from a signatory of the letter warning that emails from Hunter Biden‘s laptop had ‘classic earmarks’ of a Russian disinformation operation.

The Weaponization of the Federal Government panel, a subcommittee under House Judiciary, will depose ex-Deputy CIA Director Michael Morell on Tuesday, a source told the Washington Examiner.

Republicans have warned that the October 2020 letter from 51 former intelligence officials is an effort to discredit reports that Hunter Biden tried to at the time use his father’s influence as vice president to enrich himself and his family by engaging in foreign business deals.

Judiciary and Weaponization Chairman Jim Jordan first requested in April that Morell appear for a transcribed interview – back when he was ranking member of the Judiciary Committee.

‘At best, the public statement was a reckless attempt by you and your co-signatories to erroneously opine about purported election interference,’ Jordan said in his first letter seeking testimony.

The Ohio Republican added: ‘At worse — and more likely — the public statement was a deliberate and coordinated effort to mislead the American people about information relevant to the 2020 presidential election by invoking your national security experience to falsely suggest that the allegations about Hunter Biden were not based in fact.’

Morell and his 50 co-signers said that the correspondence found on the laptop of the president’s son had ‘classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.’

Hunter is under criminal investigation by the Justice Department for his tax affairs and is being probed by multiple House committees.

In the days leading up to the 2020 presidential election, the New York Post released a report with the first bits from the hard drive abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop.

Several media outlets, including DailyMail.com, have since confirmed the contents of the laptop and that it belonged to Hunter Biden.

Hunter’s lawyers have contacted federal and state law enforcement agencies requesting investigations into those responsible for disseminating the contents of the laptop, including laptop repair shop owner John Paul Mac Isaac.

Jordan and other House Republicans feel the claims from the letter signed by Morell was a 'concerted effort' to discredit the damning information found on Hunter's laptop

Abbe Lowell, one of the attorney’s for Biden, said in February that the letters demanding investigations ‘do not confirm’ the laptop is their client’s.

House Republicans maintain that President Biden’s son engaged in ‘influence-peddling’ in foreign countries during his father’s time as vice president.

They say that Morell and the other ex-intelligence officials sent out the letter in a ‘concerted effort’ to discredit these claims and the New York Times report.
