Four teenagers are rushed to hospital after ute rolls on beach – with the young driver allegedly drunk at the wheel before ploughing the car into the ocean

A teen has been charged after he rolled a ute crammed with six other mates at a popular beach camping spot while allegedly drunk behind the wheel.
Emergency services were called to Teewah Beach near Noosa on Queensland‘s Sunshine Coast early Wednesday following reports of a single vehicle rollover.
Four of the seven teens inside the ute were seriously injured and rushed to hospital.
Two were airlifted with severe head, chest and back injuries.
Two other boys were taken to hospital with significant injuries.

Three other teens escaped unscathed with minor injuries.
The driver 17, was issued with a notice to appear for alleged low range drink driving.
Photos showed the extensively damaged ute stranded in the water.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations continue.
The crash prompted police to issue a timely reminder to holidaymakers about the hazards of driving on beaches.
‘The crash is a reminder that driving on beaches can be hazardous, can be dangerous,’ Inspector Brad Inskip said.
‘The surfaces are different from what most of us are used to and driver’s need to take extra care.

‘We also remind motorists that the same road rules apply when driving on a beach, or in national parks, as they do when driving on any street in Queensland.’
Police also vowed to ramp up patrols across the Sunshine Coast region over the busy holiday period.
Officers have issued 137 speeding tickets, 68 defective vehicle infringements and 54 notices to people failing to wear seatbelts across the region over the Christmas/New Year period.
Five alleged drink drivers and one drug motorist were also detected.
