Alan Komissaroff, 47, a Fox News senior vice president who supervised the cable-news network’s political-news coverage, has died following a heart attack, aged 47.
Komissaroff joined Fox News in 1996 when it launched under the company formerly known as 21st Century Fox Corp.
The 47-year-old worked his way up from the network’s ranks of writers and producers to overseeing coverage of politics, including the network’s Election Night reporting.
Tributes flowed for the journalism stalwart who was lauded for his most recent supervision of the outlet’s midterm election coverage.

‘This is an extremely difficult day for all of us who worked closely with Alan, and we are completely heartbroken,’ said Suzanne Scott and Jay Wallace, Fox News Media’s CEO and Fox News Media’s president of news, in a statement.
‘Alan was a leader and mentor throughout Fox News Media who was integral to our daily news operations and played an indispensable role in every election cycle.
‘The recent midterm election coverage was easily one of the finest nights of special coverage he produced throughout his career.
‘And he was the ultimate producer: breaking news, politics, special events, there was no steadier or more trusted colleague to be with in the control room during the most consequential events of our time and his incisiveness and passion for news made our work better.’
Alan was a proud ‘Fox News original,’ having started at the network straight after college.
‘He would joke that he was a guy from ‘real Brooklyn’ and rose through the ranks to become a writer, producer, showrunner and eventually Senior Vice President of News & Politics, overseeing all political coverage,’ Scott and Wallace wrote.

Alan was married to Rachael, his high school sweetheart, for more than 20 years
‘His sharp sense of humor and quick wit throughout his incredible career also led to the many lifelong friendships he made here.’
According to a GoFundMe set up for the Komissaroff family, the 47-year-old had been exercising at home on Jan 8 when he went upstairs and told his wife, Rachael, that he ‘wasn’t feeling well.’
She called 911 but Alan’s heart stopped while paramedics were taking him to hospital after which he slipped into a coma and never regained consciousness, the page states.
‘Alan was the family’s rock. He spent decades as a TV producer in New York, he loved his work, but he loved his wife and kids so much more,’ the description reads.

‘Rachael is a long-time schoolteacher in New York City. Ben is 17, and Olivia is 13, and Alan’s overwhelming desire was for both his kids to have a chance to go to college.
‘We want to make sure Alan’s dream lives on, even now that he’s gone. In response to your many inquiries about how you can help his family, I’ve created this fundraiser. All proceeds will go directly toward his children’s future.’
Alan was married to Rachael, his high school sweetheart, for more than 20 years.
As of Friday evening, the GoFundMe has raised more than $81,069 of its $250,000 goal.
His funeral services have been scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
