Connor Humm, a junior assistant producer at Sky, had criticised the the pundit on Twitter.

The Arsenal fan claimed Man City were set to surpass the achievement of the Treble winning Manchester United side Neville had played in due to their superior football this season.

The Sky employee wrote that Neville had previously questioned Man City’s displays during the campaign.

‘Gary Neville said Manchester City weren’t at their usual level this season,’ Humm wrote.

‘They’re about to surpass his clubs greatest ever season and do it in a far more impressive way.’

Humm, in a separate post, claimed that Neville had been ‘talking nonsense’.

Neville responded to the initial post by responding ‘You okay? They weren’t at their usual level. What a weird point to make.

‘Tag me in by the way if you work at Sky. Don’t be shy.’

Humm deleted his Twitter account following the social media spat with the Sky Sports pundit.

The spat followed Man City’s 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final, with Pep Guardiola’s side advancing 5-1 on aggregate.

City are now closing in on the prospect of a Treble having set up a final against Inter Milan next month.

The reigning English champions moved to the brink of claiming a fifth Premier League title in six years, while they will also play Man United in the FA Cup final.

Neville had claimed ‘something isn’t right’ with Man City after their loss to Spurs in February

Neville had claimed back in February that ‘something isn’t right’ with Man City, after the champions had fallen to a 1-0 defeat against Tottenham.

The result had seen Guardiola’s side slip five points behind Arsenal in the title race, with Neville admitting he was beginning to have doubts over backing them to retain the title.

The Sky Sports pundit had remained insistent throughout the season that City would chase down Arsenal in the title race.

City could secure a third consecutive title over the weekend should they beat Chelsea at home on Saturday.

Neville has poked fun at Arsenal fans who slammed him for his criticism of the team ‘over-celebrating’ before the Gunner’s title challenge imploded.

The former Man United defender had accused Arsenal of ‘over-celebrating’ wins and claimed their players were guilty of becoming ‘too emotional’ as they battled with City.

Neville had laughed off the criticism from Arsenal fans in a series of social media exchanges.
