An eight-year-old boy has been left in an induced coma after he was hit by a car while getting off a school bus.
Harrison Grey was on his way home from Bees Creek Primary School when he was struck by the vehicle on Bees Creek Road, outside of Darwin, at 3pm on December 6.
He had stepped off the school bus, run behind the vehicle and then into an oncoming Ford sedan before the driver fled the scene.

Harrison was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with critical head injuries and placed in an intensive care unit with his devastated parents remaining by his bedside.
His mother Paula Apostoles and father Dean Grey have been praying for a full recovery.
‘Due to his injuries we don’t yet know what his prognosis is going to be,’ Ms Apostoles told NT News.
It is a devastating blow for the family with Christmas just a week away and the parents unsure whether he will wake up in time.
Ms Apostoles urged families to talk to their children about road safety in the hopes no other parent would have to endure the same pain as her.
‘School holidays are starting and everyone needs to be aware of kids being out and about on or near roads and car parks more at this time,’ Ms Apostoles said.

She added she was ‘overwhelmed’ by the support the community had shown to her and her family during the distressing time.
Family friend Casey Speirs has kickstarted a GoFundMe page with the campaign raising nearly $12,000 in just seven days.
‘He is still in a critical condition and has a long road ahead for recovery,’ she wrote.
‘I would like to take some financial stress away from this family so they can focus all their attention on their child’s well being and recovery.’
NT Police are continuing to investigate the crash and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
