Henry Charlton-Weedy revealed as Bishopsgate hero – One of the victims of the terrifying Bishopsgate stabbings – a high-flying city broker who needed 52 stitches after being horrifically slashed across the face – has been hailed a hero by his wife, MailOnline can reveal.

Praising her husband’s courage after he stepped in to help the victim of a mobile phone robbery, Helen Carr tweeted: ‘I’m proud of him for being so brave but my goodness, I was worried.’

The shocking scenes of rush-hour carnage during the attack and its aftermath were captured on mobile phone in the middle of London’s financial district a week ago.

Mother-of-two Ms Carr, 33, an award-nominated author and historian, summed up her dramatic week by telling her 15,000 followers: ‘My husband was part of the Bishopsgate stabbings on Thursday.

She said he was ‘stabbed in the street’.

When friends and followers reacted with sympathy for her husband Henry, 35, she added: ‘All much better and he’s on the mend’.

She told other well-wishers: ‘We’re okay, just coming down from the shock of it all. They have also charged someone so that is a huge relief!’

Earlier this week, a court heard that two men on pushbikes tried to snatch a mobile phone outside a City office during the morning rush hour but members of the public, including Mr Charlton-Weedy, stepped in.

One robber stabbed some people before passing the knife to Louis Parkinson, 25, who slashed another man in the face, Westminster magistrates were told.

Parkinson is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on Mr Charlton-Weedy outside the 22 Bishopsgate skyscraper just before 9.45am on October 6.

He is also accused of conspiring to rob Nicholas Badger and Paul Grange alongside an associate, who remains on the loose.

He has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possessing cannabis, the latter of which was found on him when police raided his address yesterday.

The court heard Parkinson tried to snatch a phone off a passer-by who cried out for help and other people rushed to try and pull the pair to the floor.

Parkinson’s associate then slashed passers-by before handing the knife to Parkinson, who allegedly stabbed the victim.

The stabbing victims were taken to hospital but none of them are believed to be in a life-threatening condition.

Aarya Mishra, prosecuting, said: ‘The defendant and another man were together cycling through London on a pedal cycle.

‘They were together, trying to snatch phones from various victims’ hands. This led to what has been described as an incredibly violent series of events.

‘The defendant tried to snatch a phone from a member of the public who cries out to other members of the public to try and detain the defendant and his associate.

‘His associate produced a knife and slashed various members of the public. He then handed that to the defendant who slashed a member of the public’s face so gravely that he required 52 stiches.’
