Most US voters say Joe Biden has likely committed ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ since becoming president that would justify the Democrat being impeached, a survey says.

The poll comes as Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican congresswoman, introduced articles of impeachment against the president over the migrant crisis at the southern border.

Some 53 percent of survey respondents said they thought Biden had committed impeachable offenses while in office, including 38 percent who called it ‘very likely.’

That’s up four points since November, according to Rasmussen Reports

‘Negative opinions about Biden scandals have definitely been gathering steam,’ said Rasmussen’s top pollster Mark Mitchell.

No president has ever been removed as a direct result of impeachment. Richard Nixon, resigned before he could be removed. Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, were impeached by the House but not convicted by the Senate. Donald Trump was impeached twice — and acquitted twice by senators

The results were partisan — Republicans see presidential wrongdoing as more likely than do Democrats.

Still, there was better news for the president.

Two thirds of voters said they did not think Congress would take any action toward impeaching Biden, and only 28 percent said they thought proceedings were likely.

‘Basically, nobody thinks that the 118th Republican Congress is going to pursue impeachment,’ added Mitchell.

House Republicans are investigating Biden, his son Hunter, and other family members, alleging that they engaged in a cash for access bribery scheme with foreign nationals.

Those allegations relate to Biden’s time as vice president in the Obama administration.

Survey respondents were asked about wrongdoing since Biden was sworn in to office more than two years ago.

The pollsters did not specify which misconduct Biden was accused of — but the survey comes as Georgia firebrand Greene introduced articles of impeachment against the president over the border crisis.

Announcing her move on Thursday, Greene said the ‘head of this America-last executive branch that has been working since January 20, 2021, to systematically destroy this country.’

She accused the president of ‘refusing to enforce’ the southern frontier and let 6 million undocumented migrants from 160 countries ‘invade our country.’

Biden has failed to properly supply the guards working the frontier, and of letting traffickers smuggle fentanyl and other deadly drugs into the country, added Greene.

Immigration to the US has for decades been a divisive issue between Republicans and Democrats.

But bigger flows of undocumented migrants in recent years and the lapsing of pandemic-era border restrictions this month have raised tensions further.

Greene’s allegations do not look likely to gain enough traction even among her fellow House Republicans to seriously threaten the president.

Once rare, impeachment proceedings have become more common in recent years.
