Check your fridge NOW: Popular yoghurt sold at Woolworths and Coles is pulled off the shelves due to dangerous contamination

  • Jalna yogurt products were recalled due to potential E.Coli risk
  • Lactose free Vanilla and Creamy Greek Coconut were recalled
  • Products were sold in Coles, Woolworths, IGA and other stores

Jalna yogurt products sold at Coles and Woolworths have been recalled due to a ‘potential contamination’ with deadly E.Coli bacteria.

The 1kg Jalna Lactose Free Vanilla and the Sweet & Creamy Greek Coconut Pot Set Yogurts were recalled on Monday by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).

The recall affects the Lactose free variety with the use-by date of July 28 and the Creamy Greek Coconut yogurt with the expiry August 2.

Shoppers should return the items immediately.

The products are sold in major supermarkets all over the country, including Coles, Woolworths, IGA and independent grocery stores.

‘Consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice,’ the FSANZ said on social media.

E.Coli is a bacteria found in animal and human guts but some forms can cause diarrhoea and food poisoning in people.

It can also bring on other more serious illnesses like pneumonia and the potentially fatal but rare ‘haemolytic uraemic syndrome’ – which can lead to kidney failure.
