Man dies after being tasered and shot police in Sydney

A man is dead after he was tasered and shot dead during a confrontation with police during a welfare check.
Emergency services were called to a home in the inner-Sydney suburb of Glebe shortly before midnight on Wednesday night following concerns for a man’s welfare.
Police were allegedly confronted by a 43-year-old man armed with a knife.
One officer used a taser during the confrontation while another discharged a firearm.

The man died at the scene, despite desperate attempts to revive him.
Police remain at the scene on Thursday morning.
The incident unfolded near Broadway Shopping complex with a popular playground in the same street.
A critical incident team from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad will investigate all circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
The investigation will also be subject to an independent review.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
