Man United 1-2 Liverpool – FA Cup quarter-final: Live score and updates as Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah turn it around with two goals in three minutes

United have crumbled under the pressure. Liverpool are set to go into the break in front!

But it was an empathic finish by Salah, slamming the ball in off the post after Onana had punched out Darwin Nunez’s effort.

It will stand – Liverpool have turned it around in a matter of moments.

We have entered four minutes of stoppage time.

And there it is… Liverpool’s leveller. All down to the forward run of Jarell Quansah, who capitalised on Wan-Bissaka’s hesitation to tun through the right channel and into United’s box.

The ball fell to Mac Allister, whose strike took a hefty deflection to beat Onana and bring Liverpool back all-square.

I’d say the goal was coming. Liverpool had been slowly turning the screw ever since they fell behind. United got away with one with the disallowed Endo goal but couldn’t hold out.

Half-time approaching as Liverpool probe away looking for parity in what has been an absorbing cup tie so far.

It hasn’t quite happened for them yet and United carry plenty of threat on the counter.

Have Liverpool levelled? They might well have done, looks tight as VAR put the lines on replays.

It was a ball played into Mohamed Salah, who might have been just offside. He cut back into Endo, who swept the ball into the bottom corner.

And, yes, Salah was offside by a fair way.

United had just been on the back foot a little but Bruno Fernandes gets into shooting range. Not sure it was on target but Kelleher gets across to dive and save anyway.

Then a much better chance for McTominay to double United’s lead, but he strikes straight at the keeper following a good Rashford cut-back.

Straight down the other end and Onana saves really sharply from Luis Diaz at his near post.

Luis Diaz almost gets in behind Diogo Dalot, but the United defender recovers well to get a boot in and concede the corner. Robertson’s delivery thumped clear by McTominay.

Alexis Mac Allister the first player booked as he brings down Scott McTominay as United looked to break. Doubt he’ll be the last this afternoon.

Fernandes with the free-kick and Varane gets a looping header onto it that Kelleher can pluck out the sky.

Good from Liverpool as Mac Allister picks out Robertson on the left. His cross is teasing but Varane heads clear, only as far as Szoboszlai, whose shot is saved well by Onana, getting down low to his left.

Slick break by United with Garnacho, who slips the pass into Rasmus Hojlund. Caught in two minds over whether to shoot or cross, he slips over and does neither.

Liverpool get their foot on the ball and Darwin Nunez wins a corner off Victor Lindelof. It’s swung in nicely by Varane heads clear. An offside relieves the pressure on United for the time being.

They’ll very satisfied with their start and it’s Jurgen Klopp prowling the touchline with a vexed expression.

The early signs of Wan-Bissaka down the left instead of his usual right-back role looking pretty positive. He breezes past Salah, who doesn’t seem fussed about tracking back.

Then Bruno Fernandes wins a free-kick for United near the left touchline. The Portuguese whips it in and it lands on the roof of the net.

Ironic cheers from then home fans as a cross-field ball intended for Mo Salah sails out of play.

The game open and stretched, which will suit both teams you imagine.

Liverpool working the ball around nicely, looking for the equaliser. It falls to Joe Gomez at the corner of the box and his strike flies over the ball. For all his versatility, probably not the best man for that chance to fall to.

Liverpool looking to respond and they break quickly on the transition. Cut back to Andy Robertson from the left but he clears the crossbar with his effort.

United strike the first blow and it’s the new attacking Scott McTominay in the perfect spot to poach it.

Great play down the left channel involving Rashford and then Garnacho slipped through. His curling shot was pushed up and not out by Kelleher and in came McTominay to prod it home from close range.

The perfect start for Erik ten Hag’s men.

So close by Mohamed Salah – terrific cross from the right side, drops over Diogo Dalot’s head without him being able to react and Salah on the volley trying to cushion it into the far corner. Just wide with Onana beaten.

Liverpool come forward for the first time but Dominik Szoboszlai’s hit is straight at Andre Onana.

United attack again with Alejandro Garnacho whipping a ball across that comes perfectly into the orbit of Marcus Rashford. Hit with curl towards the far corner and Kelleher with a superb diving stop.

United making a confident start, attacking down the left with Aaron Wan-Bissaka advanced and squaring. Kobbie Mainoo flicks out a leg and gets off a tame shot when if he’d let it roll to Scott McTominay, the Scot was better positioned.

That’s revved the crowd up even more.

Did you know today’s match will be the first time in over 12 years that Liverpool and United will have met at Old Trafford in an FA Cup quarter-final?

In his pre-match press conference Jurgen Klopp hinted his side may look to switch things up for their trip to Old Trafford.

‘I don’t know if we’ll play the same game [as December’s draw]. We really reached the next level in the season [after that].

‘Before that it was difficult to judge us, we had a lot to overcome, red cards, being 1-0 and then that game [v United] I saw it was really us in the next gear. Result didn’t show that.

‘It’s a home game for them but a lot of aspects in our game that were good and we try to bring them on the pitch again. We might do some things differently.’

The Reds will turn out in their green away kit for today’s clash at Old Trafford on St Patrick’s day.

With only two points seperating Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool at the top of the table we’re all set for what could be one of the most thrilling title races in Premier League history.

Harry Maguire’s £30million move to West Ham broke down earlier this summer but it looks like the Hammers could go back in for the Man United defender.

The 31-year-old hasn’t featured in United’s last three matches due to injury but is set to make his return for the Red Devils and will start on the bench for today’s match.

West Ham are reportedly set to try to negotiate a cut-price deal for the defender and will table offers of around £20m – with Maguire’s contract set to expire in 2025.

It’s St Patrick’s day after all and Liverpool are set to turn out in their green away strip.

Ryan Gravenberch returns to the side following an injury, with Conor Bradley making way for Virgil van Dijk, while Joe Gomez looks set to start at right back.

Erik ten Hag will welcome back all of Rasmus Hojlund, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Mason Mount from injury for today’s match, with the trio having been sidelined in recent months.

Harry Maguire also returns for United after the defender had been absent for their last three matches. He’ll start on the bench for today’s match.

‘I think it’s going to be an absolute classic!’, said the WBC Heavyweight champion, who was stood next to the pitch at Old Trafford.

Fury, a Man United supporter, gave his score predictions too, claiming ‘I’m a United fan so I’m going to go with the Reds and I’m going to say 3-2.’

The boxer added that he was wearing green, not just for St Patrick’s day but for ‘luck’.

‘Liverpool are an on form team so we’ll need a bit of luck to defeat them,’ he added.

We’re expecting the team sheets to arrive in the next ten minutes!

Harry Maguire, Rasmus Hojlund and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are all likely to feature, while Diogo Jota and Ryan Gravenberch could be set to return for Liverpool.

There’s also been a bit of transfer gossip earlier this morning that both sides could be set to go head-to-head to sign one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young talents.

I’m convinced he will be [akey player]. He didn’t have the chance to prove this point. But he will be a very good player for Manchester United.

It’s been really unfortunate and disappointing for him [injuries] but also for us when you have such a class player in the middle and you can’t play him. He has had injuries as we all know.

Erik ten Hag was dropping a few hints earlier this week that the Dane could make his injury return later this afternoon…

We had a good week. The players you mention [Hojlund, Maguire and Wan-Bissaka] returned on the pitch, partly at the start of the week and they had a session [on Friday] and are all training. We have to see how they recover from this, but it looks good. I think [they will be fit to play].

In my view, yes. Nunez has been in excellent form in the absence of Mohamed Salah.

Before the turn of the new year, he had struggled to find the back of the net but it was clear he possessed bags of raw talent.

And it seems he’s managed to find his form, scoring six goals in his last six games for the Reds and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.
