Shocking moment criminal with ELEVEN prior arrests bludgeons female NYPD cop in the head with a bottle then attacks her as she inspected Bronx smoke shop

A surveillance camera captured the moment a man randomly hit a female NYPD officer over the head with a bottle.

The clip, posted to the Twitter page NYC Scoop, shows the cop standing outside a deli in the Bronx just before 2pm on Monday when out of nowhere the man comes up behind her and starts striking her and her partner.

After he first makes contact he starts landing blows on her male partner, and was swiftly put in a head lock by a third officer. Meanwhile the female officer ran off into the road with her head in her hand.

The injured police officer, who has not been identified, was reportedly taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was treated and determined to be in stable condition. 

The man was identified as 45-year-old Jose Garcia of Kingsbridge Heights by the New York Post, and was said to have 11 prior arrests.

The attack happened near to 231st Street and Broadway outside Delicious Deli and Alltown Car Service at around 1.40pm on April 17.

According to NYC Scoop, the woman attacked was an officer 50th Precinct in Queens. Sources told the Post she was in the Bronx conducting smoke shop inspections as a number of smoke shops have started illegally selling cannabis.

The incident was recorded on surveillance footage, which also shows two men on the street filming before the attack. It appears in other video the police were conducting some sort of operation on the deli that was drawing public attention.

In video captured by one the two men, the man said to be Garcia pulls out a glass bottle from his right pocket, which he then smashes over the officer’s head.

After it deflected from her head it falls to the floor and smashes, at which point he continues beating her and her partner with a fist.

Immediately prior a New York City sheriff is seen walking from a parked van towards the deli. That is the same officer that eventually apprehends the attacker. 

Garcia was arrested and charged with assault, obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment, police told the Post.
