Megyn Kelly has defended Ron DeSantis‘ wife Casey after she was called ‘America’s Karen’ and likened to The Handmaid Tales’ Serena Waterford.

The broadcaster, 52, discussed how Casey was being trolled for her looks and her involvement in the Florida Gov’s campaign trail – which she said was because her Democratic adversaries ‘perceive her as a threat.’

Kelly, on The Megyn Kelly Show, showed a new campaign video from DeSantis’ camp which featured Casey talking about the importance of protecting children.

She then showed a clip of Rep David Jolly calling Casey ‘America’s Karen’ on a segment on MSNBC.

He said: ‘It doesn’t matter if it’s presented in heels or boots, the DeSantis doctrine is a losing one.’  Another guest on the show then described Florida’s First Lady as Serena Waterford wannabe – one of the protagonists from The Handmaid’s Tale.

Kelly said, in commentary with Dave Marcus and Stu Burguiere: ‘I think the reason they’re reacting so angrily to her is they accurately perceive her as a threat.’

Megyn Kelly said on her show: ''They hate her in a special way, its almost coming at her more viciously than with Melania [Trump]'

Kelly said sarcastically: ‘She can’t do anything right!

‘If they were saying this sort of thing about a leftie, these same people would be outraged by the rampant misogyny, but as always, it’s always fair game against a Republican wife.

‘They hate her in a special way, its almost coming at her more viciously than with Melania [Trump].’

‘[There is] this particular viciousness against her.’

Burguiere agreed with Kelly’s commentary, and said that Casey will be an asset to Ron’s camp as she comes off as relatable and down to earth.

This comes just weeks after a profile of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ wife Casey drew backlash after the piece likened her to Lady Macbeth and accused her of personally choosing the firing of a key staffer, all as DeSantis prepares to run for president in 2024.

The Politico piece, titled ‘The Casey DeSantis Problem: ‘His Greatest Asset and His Greatest Liability,’ is drawing the ire of many who argue the mainstream media would never treat a Democrat politician’s wife so harshly.

The Michael Kruse article took its inspiration from none other than former Trump advisor Roger Stone once posting on Telegram: ‘Have you ever noticed … how much Ron DeSantis’ wife Casey is like Lady Macbeth?’

It takes it’s cues from there, arguing DeSantis’ wife is ‘unusually important and uncommonly involved’ in his political work, as well as his ‘most important advisor.’

The story even goes as far as explaining the plot of Shakespeare’s classic story and quoting it.

It then accuses her of being a problem for the popular Florida governor, re-elected by 20 points last fall, by limiting his inner circle ‘not only because he constitutionally doesn’t trust people but because she doesn’t either.’

‘She’s the power behind the throne,’ Kruse quotes one Republican lobbyist as saying. ‘The tip of the spear,’

Multiple sources criticized her anonymously for being behind the firing Susie Wiles, a political operative many credit with helping former President Trump and Governor DeSantis win Florida in 2016 and 2018. She is now running Trump’s 2022 campaign.

It then quotes an anonymous former DeSantis staffer who calls his former boss ‘a vindictive motherf***er’ and slanders Casey as ‘twice that.’

Earlier this month, Casey DeSantis shone in her first solo campaign appearance, chatting easily with Iowans about their corn crops, their schools, their families and the weather.

She has become a prominent public face and voice for Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign and was in Johnston to launch ‘Mamas for DeSantis’ – a national version of the group she started in Florida to help her husband win a second term as governor.

‘It’s one thing when your policies come out after us – the mamas. It’s another thing when they come after our children. And that’s when the claws come out,’ she said.

In her 35 minute talk, she focused on three topics – her children, her husband and God.

She vowed to crisscross the country to help her husband win the Republican presidential nomination and the White House.

‘As long as I have breath in my body I will fight for Ron DeSantis – not just because he’s my husband; that is part of it – but it’s because I believe in him,’ she said.

‘If you want somebody to go up to Washington DC to clean house, to be able to put this country back on the trajectory where we are talking about – our rights coming up from our creator and our government being put in place to protect our rights that are ours, he is the man to do it and if I have to crisscross this country, I’ll do it,’ she vowed.
