A driver has divided opinion after taking up two parking spots at a popular beach.

The driver parked their Mercedes Benz C-Class at the south end of Coogee Beach, in Sydney‘s eastern suburbs, on Saturday.

A local took a photograph of the car showing the vehicle parked across two parking spots and slammed them for taking up the extra space on a ‘busy morning’.

An image was shared to Facebook where social media users were left divided because of one particular detail.

Some took aim at the driver claiming it was unnecessary to take up so much space.

‘Eastern suburbs Merc driver, no explanation needed,’ one wrote.

‘I’d squeeze my car in so tightly on his driver’s side he couldn’t get in,’ a second wrote.

‘Entitled and a crap driver,’ another added.

‘All that tech and still can’t park straight,’ a fourth wrote.

Other eagled-eyed viewers defended the driver after noticing a particular detail in the photo – a disability sticker attached to the windscreen.

‘Surely the anonymous member that posted this could see the disability permit displayed on the windscreen,’ one wrote.

‘I wonder if you’ll all be so judgemental when you’re old and frail and find it difficult to do the simple things.’

‘We don’t know if the disability car spots were already taken,’ another wrote.

‘(Or if) they are transferring in and out of wheelchairs then they need distance from other cars to do so.’

Another user said they could have been attempting to protect the more the luxury car that retails for around $80,000.

‘I didn’t want some numbskull opening their car door on my paint job,’ they wrote.
