A Florida meteorologist had a jump scare on live television after a pigeon swooped toward a beach camera – even thought she was safe inside her studio.

Chelsea Ambriz was about to give locals the upcoming forecast when a large pigeon swooped toward the weather camera on Hollywood Beach and shrieked in terror. 

‘Whoa, my gosh!’ she said as she began to duck inside the studio on Sunday. ‘The bird startled me.’ 

She had been gesturing to the seaweed along the shoreline when the bird flew into view. 

She would later reveal that from her angle, it felt like the bird was coming at her and her first instinct was to get out of the way, before she realized she was safe inside the studio.

‘I wasn’t expecting the bird to come, and from my vantage point, I thought it was going to land on my head,’ she told NBC 6. ‘My natural reaction was to duck. Then, in a nanosecond, you start thinking: “You’re on TV, you’re at work, keep going, keep going.”‘ 

The seasoned meteorologist continued on, but after the forecast, she took to Twitter to joke about her scare.

‘I definitely did not think it was going to explode like it has. The retweets and the interactions on Twitter have been fun to see, but yeah, it was just a blooper,’ she told NBC 6.
