A scientist was left with his forearm bone poking out through his skin after a police officer brutally threw him onto a main road in a shocking incident outside a pub.

Tetaan Henning, 43, suffered the gruesome injury after he questioned police for ejecting his two disabled friends from the William Farrer Hotel in Wagga Wagga, southern NSW in May, 2022.

Shocking security camera footage shows Mr Henning, who had just finished eating dinner in the pub with his partner, approach police before one officer violently shoves him on to the Sturt Highway.

Mr Henning hit the bitumen with such force his right arm snaps and a bone is forced through his skin.

When the officer pushed Mr Henning he was in the process of explaining a friend police ejected from the pub, Matthew McMahon, has a brain injury.

Mr Henning’s lawyer Paul McGirr said the officer was fortunate he didn’t kill his client by throwing him in front of a passing truck, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The video shows the same officer then dragging Mr Henning, with his right arm hanging limp, onto the pavement, where he arrests him for assaulting police.

Mr Henning was also charged with hindering police, being an intoxicated person who refused to leave a venue, and using offensive language.

The footage was played in Wagga Wagga Local Court this week, where Magistrate Chris Halburd dismissed all four charges against Mr Henning,

The charges were laid five months after the incident and all crumbled in court this week.

The court heard there was no evidence presented to show Mr Henning had been drinking.

It also heard that one of the officers called Mr Henning ‘a c***’ after he swore while questioning why police ejected two of his friends from the pub – one with a brain injury and the other who is a quadriplegic.

The hindering charge was dismissed when footage revealed Mr Henning did not come into contact with the officer police claimed he hindered.

Mr McGirr confirmed his client and Mr McMahon were planning civil cases against the state.

Police accused Mr McMahon of interfering with a sniffer dog but the CCTV footage showed this did not occur.

He described the officer’s actions as ‘disgraceful behaviour’ and described the scene as ‘the wild west of Wagga Wagga.’

The court also heard that the officer who pushed Mr Henning did not follow the correct procedure of issuing a move-on order.
