Officials said on Saturday evening there was no threat to the public.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro wrote on Twitter he had spent time at the hospital and the trooper was stable but in critical condition.

Col. Christopher Paris of the state police was also at the hospital where the injured trooper was being treated, state police said. Their current condition is unknown.

‘Our brave law enforcement officers fight to protect Pennsylvania communities every day. As the Attorney General, know that my office stands with you,’ she said.

The incident comes around a week after Pennsylvania state troopers shot and killed an 18-year-old street racer who authorities say struck them after refusing to stop.

One of the troopers then fired a shot into the car, striking Anthony Allegrini Jr., who died at the scene on the I-95.

An investigation by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office ongoing but Pennsylvania State Police are not equipped with body-worn cameras, the Philadelphia Enquirer reported on Thursday.
