A nighttime prowler has been breaking into luxury Lake Tahoe hotel rooms to fondle sleeping women’s feet, cops have warned.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said two female guests staying at a premium 4.5-star hotel in the beautiful lakeside city of Stateline, west Nevada, reported waking up to an intruder touching their feet at around 4.30am on two separate mornings.

The incidents were reported on July 2 and July 3, with the unidentified serial foot-molester breaking into ground floor rooms via an ‘unsecured exterior screen door’, according to officials.

‘Once the female guests woke up, the intruder left the room via the exterior sliding screen door,’ the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff identified the scene of the alleged assaults as 180 block of Elks Point Road in Stateline, which is the address of the luxury beach-side Club Wyndham South Shore hotel.

Guests at the hotel enjoy ‘spacious bedroom resort suites’ which ‘comfortably sleep four to eight guests and range from 846 to 1,255 square feet’, according to the website.

Suites feature private bedrooms with one king bed in the master, one queen bed or two twin beds in the guest rooms and a double Murphy bed in the living area.

Rooms come complete with a ‘full kitchen’ and a ‘washer/dryer’ in each suite, plus a separate living room/dining area, whirlpool tub, gas fireplace, and a private balcony terrace.

The stunning mountainous area, which is close to the California border, is known for its scenic hiking trails and for being home to Lake Tahoe – America’s largest alpine lake.

Statleline boasts world-class ski resorts during the winter months, and tranquil boating trips in the spring and summer seasons.

Following the foot-fondling incident, residents and guests in the Lake Tahoe area have been advised to secure all exterior doors to their homes and rented rooms.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said it is ‘actively working this investigation’ and anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Scott Wharton at 775-586-7253.
