A 53-year-old mother found dead at home in Plymouth has been pictured after police charged her 24-year-old son with murder.  

Police were called to a property in Ilbert Street at around 4.15pm on Saturday after reports of concern for the welfare of a woman.

Officers forced entry to the home and emergency first aid was carried out, but sadly Hazel Huggins was confirmed dead at the scene.

Bradley Huggins, 24, of Ilbert Street, Plymouth, has been charged with murder and has appeared before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today. The case is due to be heard tomorrow at Plymouth Crown Court for a bail application.

‘The family are grieving their loss and ask that their privacy be respected at this time,’ they added. 

A statement from police issued this morning said: ‘Detectives have charged a man with murder in connection to the death of a woman in Plymouth at the weekend. 

‘Officers were called to a property in Ilbert Street at around 4.15pm on Saturday 29 July following reports of concern for the welfare of a woman.

‘Units forced entry to the address and emergency first aid was carried out, but 53-year-old Hazel Huggins was confirmed deceased at the scene. 

‘Bradley Huggins, 24, of Ilbert Street, Plymouth, has been charged with murder and is due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 31 July.’

‘It is believed that they were known to each other,’ police added. 

Plymouth Magistrates Court confirmed to MailOnline on Monday that the victim was the mother of the defendant.
