Brutal second blow for TV presenter who bravely called out troll Twitter account that taunted her with ‘sickening’ insults as she’s made redundant from her dream job

A television sports presenter who took a courageous stand against cowardly social media trolls has been dealt a second brutal blow after revealing she had been made redundant from her ‘dream job’.

Bella Anderson, a Melbourne-based mounting yard analyst for Racing.com, revealed on Monday the role she had been working in since 2021 had been made redundant. 

Ms Anderson made headlines in October last year when she bravely exposed a cowardly Twitter user who had made an anonymous account purely to hurl ‘sickening’ insults at her.

In her farewell post to Racing.com, Ms Anderson revealed she had taken the huge career leap for the company when she moved from Sydney to Melbourne two years ago.

‘It breaks my heart to announce that I will no longer be working for Racing.com,’ she wrote.

‘Devastatingly, my position as Mounting Yard Analyst has been made redundant. As Racing.com have decided to reduce their mounting yard coverage.’

Ms Anderson said she had made the move to Melbourne to pursue her ‘dream’ and ‘passion’ of being a mounting yard analyst.

‘I can’t overstate how much I have loved this job,’ she said.

‘It’s been a lot of fun and great to connect with so many people who are also so passionate about our great sport.’

 Ms Anderson thanked ‘everyone who has helped, guided and supported me along the way’.

‘It has meant the world,’ she said.

I don’t know what adventure is next,’ she said. 

‘I know that I will always love horses and I will always love racing’.

Ms Anderson’s Twitter followers reacted with disbelief at the announcement as well as offering words of encouragement for the young sports reporter.

‘Your presenting skills will take you far Bella. You’ll land on your feet, have no doubt,’ one comment read.

‘In my opinion, proved yourself to be one of the best mounting yard analysts in the business,’ another wrote. 

Her job loss comes months after Ms Anderson called out the parody account called ‘BigBellasBest’ after realising it had been using her own image to aggressively harass her over her racing tips and physical appearance.

‘I can’t quite describe how I felt when I found this account and even more so that industry participants are following it,’ Ms Anderson said. 

‘This is disgusting, sickening and extremely upsetting. It is bullying and harassment. Please report this account, no-one deserves to be treated like this,’ she said of the tweets.

Ms Anderson received a stream of support from people both inside and outside the  horse racing community. 

Multiple users reported the account following Ms Anderson’s tweet and Twitter banned it within three hours.
