Ray Winstone admitted it took him four days to recover from his daughter Jaime’s wedding following her raucous reception in Sicily last year.

The actor, 67, proudly walked his daughter Jaime, 38, down the aisle as he married her husband James Suckling and said it was the ‘best wedding he had been to’.

Reflecting on the day during an upcoming appearance on Jonathan Ross, he said: ‘It was kind of amazing. I’ve got to say it was probably the best wedding I’ve been to.

‘The night was wonderful and it took me four days to get over it. It was kind of like being 25 again – I partied like no tomorrow.’

Ray is famed for his screen image as a Cockney bruiser, but Ray revealed a rarely seen softer side as he walked daughter Jaime down the aisle.

The actor was close to tears while leading the bride to her wedding service, watched by 250 close friends and family members.

In video footage shared on Instagram, Ray is seen walking arm-in-arm with his eldest child through a gauntlet of applauding guests shortly before she exchanged vows with long-term partner James.

Wearing a lace bridal gown with a tight fitting bodice and veil, actress Jamie looks radiant as she walks alongside her father while holding a floral bouquet.

Meanwhile Winstone, whose acting career has been forged on playing psychopaths, gangsters and thugs, looked appropriately dapper in a lilac suit and loose fitting camp collar shirt.

The ceremony was held at La Tonnara di Scopello, previously a tuna fishery from the 13th century.

Ray is grandfather to Jaime and James’ son Raymond, who was born in 2016.

Discussing his role as a grandparent, he said: It’s the most wonderful feeling in the world. It’s like seeing your kids grow up again.

‘When I was younger, I was working and you didn’t get that pleasure so much so you’re living it as a grandfather now.’

Ray was on the show to discuss his upcoming appearance in The Gentleman, which is set in the same world as the Guy Ritchie film of the same name.

The actor and director had famously fallen out but made up ahead of working on the project together.

Ray said: ‘I was going to work with Guy years ago – I was going to do Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and it got put on hold. Me and Guy fell out as you do when you’re younger – we had a few words.

‘I went on my way and we fell out again. I love his films, you know a Guy Ritchie film. Blinding filmmaker. When this offer came up, we finally got together.

‘I’m a grown up now. We buried the hatchet as you say. We met and he said ‘are we alright now?’ and I said ‘yes we are’ and I’ve got to tell you, it’s the best thing because I’ve really enjoyed the job.’

Looking back at breaking into the industry, he said: ‘I was expelled from drama school but if I wasn’t expelled I wouldn’t be here today.

‘I was just a horrible little b*****d – I sabotaged the headmistress’ car and someone grassed me up and I got kicked out – quite rightly!

‘I went up to the BBC and it’s where it kind of started. I met Alan Clarke – he was a teacher as well as a great director and that’s where I kind of started.’
