Ron v Don. It’s On: Trump says DeSanctimonious can’t win the election and says he ‘needs a personality’ transplant HOURS before Florida Governor kicks off $200 MILLION campaign

  • Trump called DeSantis ‘disloyal’ and sanctimonious
  • He brought up his votes as a House member for GOP budgets
  • Trump’s Truth Social posts came as DeSantis planned to announce on Twitter

Former President Donald Trump isn’t waiting for Ron DeSantis to officially launch his campaing tonight to ridicule into his rival – mocking his personality and repeatedly calling the Florida governor ‘disloyal.’

The Trump attacks, which were a hallmark of his successful 2016 campaign and his failed one in 2020, came on his own Truth Social platform – as DeSantis prepares to launch his campaign in an online conversation with Twitter head Elon Musk

Beneath the insults were political attacks that were more standard fare from campaigns of the past – calling DeSantis a risk to older Americans on Social Security and Medicare and casting him as out of touch with the Republican base.

‘Ron DeSanctus can’t win the General Election (or get the Nomination) because he VOTED TO OBLITERATE SOCIAL SECURITY, EVEN WANTING TO RAISE THE MINIMUM AGE TO 70 (or more!), VOTED TO BADLY WOUND MEDICARE, AND FOUGHT HARD AND VOTED FOR A 23% ‘TAX ON EVERYTHING’ SALES TAX. He was, and is, a disciple of horrible RINO Paul Ryan, and others too many to mention. Also, he desperately needs a personality transplant and, to the best of my knowledge, they are not medically available yet. A disloyal person!’

Trump was referencing DeSantis’ backing when he was a Republican House member for legislation to raise the ‘normal retirement’ age, for those who would get the full benefit, to 70 from 66 or 67 now.

It was the subject of a seething ad by the pro-Trump super PAC ‘Make American Great Again’ that kicked off with an actor playing DeSantis sticking his fingers into a cup of pudding.

He referenced DeSantis’ past support for a budget plan by former Speaker Ryan and votes for House GOP budgets.

More recently, DeSantis has said Republicans are ‘not going to mess with Social Security.’

Trump has long pegged DeSantis as disloyal for accepting his backing in his run for Florida governor and then deciding to seek the White House while he was attempting his own comeback.

Trump looked back at DeSantis’ 2022 governor’s race in another post, this time calling him ‘Rob DeSanctimonious.’

‘Look, Rob DeSanctimonious came to me asking for help. He was losing badly, by 31 points, to popular Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam. He was getting ready to drop out of the race – Ran a terrible campaign! Ron told me he had one last chance, my Support & Endorsement, which Putnam, and everyone else, wanted also. I gave it to Ron, and the race was over. In one day, he went from losing badly, to winning by a lot. With 3 LARGE TRUMP RALLIES, he WON THE GENERAL ELECTION in an upset. DISLOYAL!!!’

The pro-DeSantis super PAC Never Back Down has hit back at Trump with some of his own comments in a 2020 CNBC interview when he was asked if entitlements will ‘ever be on your plate.’

‘At some point, they will be, we will take a look at that,’ Trump responded, although his words weren’t specific and he also spoke about harnessing U.S. economic growth.

The same group said it is planning a $200 million effort to back DeSantis, with plans for multiple door knocks on potential supporters in key states, plus an expected TV air war.

The hits from Trump come after the White House tore into DeSantis’ record in Florida amid an NAACP ‘travel advisory’ for his state.

Trump has his own baggage to carry. A judge in New York on Tuesday set a March, 2024 date for the Stormy Daniels ‘hush’ payments case, which would require Trump to jump off the campaign trail days after the Florida primary.
