- The 27-year-old is the first Rust crewmember to be convicted on charges pertaining to Hutchins’ death
- Alec Baldwin, who allegedly fired the bullet that killed the mother-of-one, will be the subject of a criminal trial set to begin in July
Hannah Guttierez-Reed, the primary weapons handler on the set of the ill-fated indie film Rust, was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison for the fatal, on-set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Gutierrez-Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in March by a jury, making her the first crewmember to be convicted in the accidental shooting death of Hutchins by actor Alec Baldwin.
Gutierrez-Reed, 27, was found guilty after a jury determined she had mistakenly loaded a live round into a revolver Baldwin was using on set.
Baldwin’s criminal trial is set to begin on July 10, after a grand jury indicted him for involuntary manslaughter back in January.
