A sales clerk has been stabbed while trying to stop a robbery at a David Jones in Melbourne.
The incident unfolded inside the popular department store at Bourke Street Mall, in Melbourne, just before midday on Tuesday.
‘A male staff member confronted a man and woman who stole a designer handbag from a Little Bourke Street department store shortly before 12pm,’ A spokesperson for Victorian Police confirmed.
‘The male thief stabbed the staff member in the arm before fleeing with his accomplice.
‘The staff member was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
No arrests have been made, however the Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the incident.
