Former Trump White House strategist Steve Bannon tore into Ron DeSantis Monday for a ‘weasel approach’ after the Florida governor included two references to paying off a porn star into his comments on a looming potential indictment of Donald Trump.
Bannon issued a warning to DeSantis during his ‘War Room Pandemic’ podcast, after Trump’s own post about his imminent arrest prompted a bevy of Republicans to come to his defense and blast Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg for plotting a partisan prosecution.
‘Governor DeSantis, you’re better than this,’ Bannon lectured, directing his words to the potential presidential candidate during the broadcast.
‘That was a weasel approach. And don’t throw in the thing about the porn star. Don’t need to hear it from you, okay? Don’t need to hear it, okay?’ he said, taking a page from Trump, who himself tore into his rival.

Then Bannon turned to My Pillow exec Mike Lindell for the ‘Election Crime Bureau report’ – prompting yet another furious broadside.
Lindell once again called DeSantis the ‘Trojan horse we thought he was’ of the GOP.
‘I just want to put that out there, how disgusting he is,’ he added.
‘If they arrest our great president Donald Trump, hands down he wins,’ Lindell predicted.
Their ripostes came after DeSantis on Monday, after a two-day delay, attacked the investigation of GOP rival Trump. The Manhattan DA has been investigating the $130,000 ‘hush’ payment to Stormy Daniels. Trump reimbursed former fixer Michael Cohen for the payments.

DeSantis said he didn’t know ‘what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair’, then accused Bragg of ignoring rising crime in New York.
At the same time, he parroted some of Trump’s own attack, calling Bragg a ‘Soros-funded prosecutor’ – a reference to a $1 million donation that the billionaire gave to a Color of Change during Bragg’s 2021 election.
‘What I can speak to, is that if you have a prosecutor who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction, and he chooses to go back many, many years ago, to try to use something about porn star hush money payments,’ DeSantis said, bringing up the substance of the case a second time.
‘You know, that’s an example of pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office,’ he added.
The porn star mention did not escape Trump, who has repeatedly denied a sexual affair and in response to looming charges and in a Monday night video blasted a ‘Stormy ”Horse Face” Daniels extortion plot.’
‘They are not coming after me – they are coming after you. I’m just standing in their way. And I always will stand in their way,’ Trump said.
The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., in a tweet hit at DeSantis for calling the event a ‘manufactured crisis.’
‘So DeSantis thinks that Dems weaponizing the law to indict President Trump is a “manufactured circus” & isn’t a “real issue”‘ he wrote.
‘Pure weakness. Now we know why he was silent all weekend. He’s totally owned by Karl Rove, Paul Ryan & his billionaire donors. 100% Controlled Opposition,’ he wrote, referencing the former George W. Bush strategist and former House Speaker.
The former president himself went after DeSantis Monday with a statement suggesting without evidence that DeSantis may someday face unfair accusations from a man.
‘Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser, and better known, when he’s unfairly and illegally attacked by a woman, even classmates that are ‘underage’ (or possibly a man!),’ Trump wrote.
‘I’m sure he will want to fight these misfits just like I do!’ Trump added on his Truth Social platform.
