A £3.75million mansion overlooking Gleneagles golf course has been put up for sale just four months after it was won in a raffle-style draw.

The property near Auchterarder, Perthshire. was the top prize in an Omaze Million Pound House Draw last year – the first to be held in Scotland.

In November the firm announced the winner as Jon from Berkshire who described it as ‘a dream come true’.

No further details were given about the winner but he revealed he was a regular subscriber to Omaze’s charity house draws which cost just £10 to enter.

Omaze winners are not obliged to hang onto the luxury properties and can instead opt to cash in on the prize by putting in on the market. MailOnline found that most homes won through the draw are sold less than 12 months after being won.

Among reasons for selling up quickly include the high cost of running the large houses, which is barely covered by the £100,000 cash prize included in the win.

The seven bedroom home was listed by estate agents Savills this week for offers over £3.75 million.

The property has its own entertainment room, leisure suite, cinema room, hot tub, guest annexe and golf simulator.

The heart of the home is an ornate open plan kitchen and dining area that opens onto the south-facing garden with sliding doors.

The room is further complimented by a cosy lounge space, connected to the dining area by a double sided fireplace.

A sales brochure for the house states: ‘A luxurious contemporary home with guest apartment in one of Scotland’s most exclusive addresses.

‘The bespoke design focuses on impressive entertaining spaces and sympathetically designed, all en suite bedrooms, with living space that includes a guest or staff apartment and leisure suite.

‘The magnificent entertainment room is one of the highlights. It sits on the first floor with a double height vaulted ceiling with timber beams, a double-width log burning stove with stone surround and full height south-facing windows.

‘A galleried balcony accessed from the second floor overlooks the room with a birds eye view of the bespoke stone-topped bar (equipped with appliances) at one end, and a south-facing balcony at the other, the latter overlooking the golf course with the Ochil Hills beyond.’

Jon is among many Omaze winners to decide to sell their prize luxury home.

MailOnline revealed that just three of 14 properties won up to last August were lived in by their respective winners, with one rented out on Airbnb.

Among others to cash in the prize was Uttam Parmar, 58, from Leicestershire who sold a stunning mansion in Cornwall within just eight weeks of winning it, saying he couldn’t afford the upkeep.

Essex grandmother June Smith, 74, also put her prize, another Cornish home, on the market after visiting it just once.

Jon from Berkshire said: ‘I’m a subscriber so I never miss a draw. It’s such an easy way to give money to charity.

‘It’s absolutely a dream come true.’

The draw also raised £1.8 million for charity Breast Cancer Now to help continue its research and support people affected by the disease.

Omaze launched in the UK in 2020 but was founded in the US. It is a ‘for-profit’ fundraising company which runs draws to make money for itself and a chosen charity.

Property records show the Gleneagles house was bought by the company in July last year for £4.3 million.

Omaze has been approached for comment.

The Omaze ‘curse’

Most of the dream homes won on Omaze have been sold within months of being won.

Analysis by MailOnline found that most winners cash in on their prize within 12 months.

One reason for selling up is the huge cost of keeping the luxury mansions, which is barely covered by the £100,000 prize included in the win.

Among those who decided to put their prize home on the market was Uttam Parmar from Leicestershire, who put his stunning Cornish mansion on the market within eight weeks of claiming the jackpot, saying he couldn’t afford the maintenance costs.

Essex grandmother June Smith, 74, put her stunning home in Fowey, Cornwall on the market after visiting the property just once.

Another West Midlands couple, Jade and her unnamed partner put their Omaze home with breathtaking views of the English Channel for sale within months.
